Trivia from Perks of Being a Wallflower

So while my nearby towns are being evacuated because of an out-of-control bushfire and the sky outside turns darker thanks to a combination of smoke and cloud, I thought it would be cool to share a fun fact I learned watching The Perk's of Being A Wallflower. Mr Anderson asks the class some a trivia question, and gives a few hints. Protagonist Charlie silently writes down the correct answer while the rest of his classmates shout out everything but.

I'll turn it into a Who Am I?

Who Am I?
I am a British author.
I invented the Paperback novel.
I also invented the serial.
At the end of the third chapter of my first novel, I had a man hanging from a cliff by his fingernails, hence the term 'cliffhanger'.

Who am I?

Leave your guess in the comments, the answer will be revealed next blog-post.

NO GOOGLING!

- Bonnee.

  1. Charles Dickens.

If you say something with enough authority, it becomes true, so...

    Charles Dickens.

    1. Did I win? Is it a Valuable Prize? A Major Award? Do I have the choice of keeping it or trading it for what's behind Door Number 1?

    2. I didn't consider that part... hmm, how about a shout out and you can do a guest post over here if you'd like?

    3. Hmm, shout outs are always nice. A guest post? Considering I can barely cobble together two posts a week on my blog, I'm not so sure it's a good idea. Then again, why not? Give me a topic and I'll see what I can do.

    1. There's good news for one of my friend's who was evacuated. Her home is okay, but there have been a few losses.

  3. And echoing what Shari says. Hoping those fires can be gotten under control and put out. Many years ago, we had wildfires out close to where I lived and it was a very unsettling time. Be well!

    1. I've seen worse fires than this, but I didn't know the people who had been evacuated so well. Thanks for your thoughts JeffO.

  4. Whoa, that fire sounds like some serious stuff. Hope it all goes well on your end -- try and stay safe, all right?

Also, I'm going to make an educated guess on who that author is...IT'S A PUMBLOOM!

(You said no googling, but nothing about YouTube. Or the Game Grumps. Loophole abuse, yeah!)

    1. 80,000 hectares burned, and that was over 12 hours ago, so there'll be more by now. Fire seems to be moving away from me at this point, so that's a good thing... for me, anyway.

      What's a Pumbloom?? O.o

    1. EJ, I think we talked about this over at your blog. We're both in VIC and I'm pretty sure we're on the same side of Melbourne. I doubt we're more than a few hours apart. I'm in the Gippsland region.

You could totally still make a guess!!!

      You stay safe too xx.

  6. The only part of this I am vaguely familiar with is who invented the paperback novel- I believe it was Charles Dickens. The rest of it I am not sure so I am probably 100 percent off lol. Some English major I am!

  7. Youtube has a few videos about your city. The one giving the most information is "Traralgon Chamber". I see that there is a campus of Monash university there. It's well known University. Good luck with the fires, and I see that last June you had a flood.

    1. A tad inaccurate; the university isn't in Traralgon, it's in Churchill, about 20-30 minutes drive away. But it is close-by. The flood was actually pretty cool... the underground car park at the shopping center was filled right up. I guess if my house had been effected I wouldn't be saying that though, haha.
